Mentoring, Encouraging, Helping Church Pastors and Leaders

• We provide pastor encouragement ministries such as a Pastor’s Encouragement Conference in Baton Rouge, LA.

• We provide church leadership consulting in areas such as elder-led church, biblical structure and function, direction in the areas of purpose and strategy.

Equipping for Effective Roman Catholic Evangelism

In all kinds of religious groups there are people who need a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and certainty of their eternal destiny. This is true in groups that claim to be Christian, even in the church I (Larry Miller) pastored for 30 years. Love for these needy people requires that we evangelize them. Since there are approximately 1 billion Roman Catholics world wide we certainly need to know how to lovingly and effectively reach out to those with this need in this religious group.

At Equippers Ministry, we are convinced that many Roman Catholics do not understand the true gospel message, that salvation is provided by the grace of God and is based on faith alone--not faith plus works.

Due to the impact of ecumenical efforts and a cultural emphasis on "tolerance," many within the broader Christian community no longer perceive Roman Catholic people as being in need of evangelization. Our conviction to the contrary is based on the following:

• Contact with thousands of Roman Catholics during his thirty-five years in New Orleans and South Louisiana has convinced Larry Miller that many do not understand the gospel.
• As part of a research project, Larry surveyed 400 former Roman Catholics then involved in evangelical churches. The results convinced him that many Catholics are lost.
• The Official Roman Catholic theology states that justification (made right with God) is accomplished through faith plus works. While there are exceptions in the lives of some individual Roman Catholics, this doctrine dominates the thinking of most Roman Catholics.

Our approach to Roman Catholic evangelism is based on love and relationship building--not attacking or "Catholic bashing."

To Help We Offer the Following Options

A long term relationship with a church to guide the development of a more effective ministry in this area.

A Six-Hour Seminar which is great for local churches, Bible college and seminary evangelism courses, as well as pastors' conferences. The seminar can be conducted in less time but would be less effective. The seminar features a quality power point presentation "spiced' with the testimonies of ten former Roman Catholics including a former Dominican nun.

Post-seminar training of up to 12 sessions in a small group setting. These sessions include:

• How to apply what was learned in the seminar
• The roles of prayer, the Word of God, and the Holy Spirit in evangelism
• The importance of community or small group support in evangelism

Additional material on evangelism beyond the Roman Catholic group (upon request).

Additional Ministries We Provide

Marriage Seminars
Larry and Marcella bring their experience from more than 50 years of marriage to the table in their Transforming Marriages seminars.  Sessions focus on biblical foundation for family, as well as marriage and marital roles.  Sessions also deal with issues such as marital problems, differences between husbands and wives, and finding solutions to these issues.  Larry and Marcella also minister to husbands and wives separately.

We also offer assistance in establishing follow-up groups for couples in a home setting, such as the HomeBuilders Couples Series by Family Life Ministry of Little Rock, Arkansas.

Parenting Training
We offer counsel toward the establishment  of a quality parenting-training program in the local church.  When distance is not a restriction, our Reach the Heart classes can be provided.

Children’s Ministry Consulting
With Jeff Miller—a children’s pastor—we offer help to local churches in such areas as developing quality children’s ministries, integrating parents and children into a healthy church experience, and developing effective ministry teams.

Spiritual-Life Training
Authentic growth toward Christlikeness is our goal. We analyze various approaches to the spiritual life and include a solid biblical presentation of the “whats and hows” of spiritual transformation.

Retreats, Pulpit Supply, Bible Conferences
Larry speaks at men’s retreats and Bible conferences, and is available for pulpit supply. Marcella speaks at ladies’ retreats.

International Ministry
Larry periodically teaches theology to pastors and local church leaders in Moldova with Entrust (formerly Biblical Education by Extension).  He and Marcella also teach a marriage course to pastors and wives in Moldova.  Other international ministries opportunities are being evaluated.
